Stafford's County Hospital: Inspectors to look again at children's A&E care
Children's emergency services could move a step closer to returning to County Hospital with health inspectors due to visit today.
Representatives from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health will tour the emergency department and speak to staff today to determine if it will be safe and sustainable for the Stafford site to handle critical child cases. They will continue visits throughout this month.
The Children's Emergency Centre was suspended on August 25 due to a lack of trained staff in paediatrics and anaesthetics.
A minor injuries service returned on October 10, which has since seen more than 350 children.
It comes as more than 6,700 people have signed a petition, led by the Express & Star, urging for A&E services to be fully re-installed.
