Biggest Loser: Final weigh-in sees double win

Four contestants, four weeks, four stone lost – this year's Biggest Loser competition has been an overriding success.

This week the final weigh-in took place following the final session at Chris Jewkes' gym in Tettenhall.

The reward for all the group's sweat and tears was a total four stone and two pound loss.

But there could only be one Biggest Loser 2016 – or so they thought.

After a month of training and dieting nothing could split drivers Frank O'Halloran and Andrew Doyle who both shed exactly 17.4 pounds.

Payroll manager Laura Piekos finished in third place having lost exactly a stone, while self-confessed stranger-to-exercise Damon Stanton managed to cut 10 pounds from his frame.

Frank, of Marston Road, Dudley, said he had already signed up for a further five weeks training at the gym.

He said: "It has been a really great experience – a real eye-opener.

"I have looked forward to going each and every time and to seeing the achievements we have been able to make."

The 57-year-old said he now intends to stick with the good habits moving forward.

He added: "All the rubbish has gone out of the window. You won't find any biscuits, cakes or crisps in my cupboards at home.

"It is all healthy eating from here. I don't want to put the weight back on.

"It has been a real effort to get this far and I have just got to stick at it now."

Both Frank and Andrew blamed their jobs, driving lorries and buses respectively, for their weight gain.

Andrew, of Lilac Grove, Walsall, had a particular reason for wanting to lose weight and get fit – he and wife Kerry are hoping to become foster carers.

At 28st, the 35-year-old was also the heaviest of the group.

Now weighing 26st 12lbs, Andrew said: "It's been fun, it's been really good. I am hoping to carry on further by going at least once a week to the gym. The biggest change for me is my diet, I'm eating a lot more protein and fish. I've gone down a couple of inches in my trousers and collar size."

Andrew added his aim is to now get down to 20 stone.

All four contestants benefited from three sessions with a personal trainer each week at Chris's gym off Danescourt Road, Tettenhall. More than that, they were provided with advice and support in helping to change their eating habits which might have been adding to the bulge.
