Staff levels drop at Stafford and Cannock Chase hospitals
Staffing levels at Stafford and Cannock Chase hospitals are dropping, with nurse numbers down by 50 in the last year.
Latest figures were revealed at a meeting of Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust which was told chiefs may have to look further afield to recruit.
Director of finance Aaron Cummins said: "The focus for the trust's directors is on making sure that patients are safe and well cared for at Stafford and Cannock Chase Hospital while the Trust Special Administration (TSA) process continues, particularly during the additional challenges the winter months will bring.
"We have found that it is very hard to get staff to work at the trust when there is such a high turnover so we have started to look at recruiting on a wider footprint.
"We are looking towards North Staffordshire and Burton and we have also started to look at overseas recruitment."
