A leaking pipe caused the flooding in the Eliza Tinsley ward at Rowley Regis hospital in Moor Lane yesterday morning.
Staff in the ward, which provides rehabilitation care, moved the patients to other beds while work was carried out to clear the water, which began gushing onto the ward from 8.30am.
A fire crew from Wednesbury was also called to help. The team used specialist equipment to clear water from the ward floor.
Staff then cleaned the floor and patients are expected to return to the ward this afternoon when it has fully dried out.
Hospital Jayne Dunn, hospital director, said: "The staff dealt with the problem in a calm and professional manner."
