Reform plans on scandal-hit health services at Stafford and Cannock Chase hospitals
Campaigners were braced to learn the likely future of services at Stafford and Cannock Chase hospitals today with administrators publishing their recommendations for radical reform.
Accident and emergency, intensive care and maternity services could all face the axe from Stafford if administrators appointed to shake up services agree with a report commissioned by watchdog Monitor.
Professor Hugo Mascie-Taylor and Ernst & Young partners Alan Bloom and Alan Hudson were due to reveal their conclusions after three-and-a-half months of deliberations this afternoon.
Attention will again turn to scandal-hit Stafford Hospital, where the announcement will be made from 2pm.
The administrators have been considering whether to implement a £70 million downgrade of services recommended by the Monitor-commissioned report.
The conclusions will go out for consultation before Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt confirms the long-term plans for Stafford and Cannock.
