Administrators for the Mid Staffordshire NHS Trust, Alan Bloom and Dr Hugo Mascie-Taylor, gave an outline of their work leading up to a draft report due to be put to public consultation in six weeks at the meeting in Cannock town centre.

The report should detail what their plans are for the trust and how the hospitals may be made financially and clinically sustainable.

But, following the meeting at the Premier Suite in High Green, lead campaigner for Cannock Hospital, Deborah Hubbard, said the felt she was no clearer on the trust's situation and is concerned the administrators have 'already made up their minds'.

"To me it just seems like it's a done deal," said Mrs Hubbard who worked at Cannock Hospital for more than 20 years before she retired two years ago.

A series of issues were raised at the meeting by members of the public, including concerns for staff. Mr Bloom said while he could not promise people 'jobs for life', no redundancies would be made during the 145-day period in which administrators are in place.

MP Aidan Burley and Stafford campaigner Cheryl Porter were at the meeting.
