We all have a favourite pub, but is your local truly Only Ordinary By Name?

Whatever makes it stand out, we want to hear about it, as we launch the search for Britain’s extra-ordinary boozers.

We've teamed up with TV joker Paddy McGuinness and John Smith’s to find local pubs with the best stories to tell.

And the best people to tell us about them are you – the people who drink there.

Launching the competition, comedian and TV presenter Paddy explained what he looks for in the perfect pub.

“A good pub for me is all about a friendly atmosphere and good ale,” he said. “It’s all about that camaraderie with your mates, a place to relax, socialise and have fun.”

The winning pub will receive £5,000 and a visit from Paddy himself

Paddy, 43, has a packed schedule helping his wife Christine look after their twins Leo and Penelope, and baby daughter Felicity, as well as filming hit shows Take Me Out and The Keith And Paddy Picture Show with pal Keith Lemon.

And he insisted there is no better place to relax on a rare night out than the great British pub.

He added: “I’ve been in some lovely pubs around the world but none of them encapsulate the feeling you get in a good old British boozer.”

And despite the rise in gastropubs serving posh nosh and trendy nibbles, Paddy likes to go back to basics when it comes to bar food.

He said: “I’m peanuts and crisps all the way. Although I did used to like those crab sticks the fishmongers used to come in and sell.”

Everybody who nominates a pub below will automatically be entered into a prize draw to win a £200 cash prize and some John Smith’s to enjoy.

Pubs will be shortlisted and opened up to our readers' vote for the ultimate decision. The winning pub will be awarded £300 and progress to the overall final.

Once in the overall final, our expert judging panel will select the winner, where Paddy will drop in for a pint to celebrate with the landlord and deliver a top prize cheque for £5000. Of that payment, £4,500 will go to the winning pub to spend on improvements for punters such as new TVs or pool tables, and £500 to the lucky landlord.

What makes your pub extraordinary?
