Roads are flooded across the Black Country amid wind warnings and rain in Storm Bert aftermath

Several roads in Brownhills and surrounding areas are submerged including the High Street, Green Lane, Wilkin Road and Barons Court. There have also been reports of flooding in Stourbridge, Halesowen and Muckley Corner.

West Midlands Fire Service Wednesbury based Technical Support unit warned drivers about the conditions. Firefighers rescued a person from a car stranded in flood water in Walsall.

The unit tweeted: "Stay safe out there!  Our water rescue unit has been busy this morning assisting several people stranded in floodwater. Remember: never drive through floodwater if you’re unsure of its depth. #FloodSafety #StaySafe."

Dave Portsmouth captured the flooding in Barons Court in Brownhills which had claimed a 4x4 vehicle. He said: "This is not climate change, this is down to blocked drains and bad drainage."

Driver Debbie Watkins warned drivers to avoid Walsall Wood, she said: "Brookland Road, Walsall Wood, is flooded. Avoid if possible, it is very deep."

In Stourbridge, there is flooding near the Stew Pony junction and the Ruby junction, Amblecote. Jacqui Radford-Sutton posted a picture of the flooding on Facebook warning drivers: "Be careful deeper than u think."

Mary Stevens Park in Stourbridge has flooded, Matt Broad said: "Heavy rain has caused the pool at Mary Stevens Park to flood the pathways. Please be careful when coming & be on the lookout for stray birds that may swim through the railings."

West Midlands Fire Service warned motorists not to risk driving through water after a man was rescued in Walsall.

WMFS tweeted: "Crews from @WMFSBloxwich and @WMFSTechRescue rescued a man from a car stranded in flood water in #Walsall this morning. Remember, 30cm of water is enough to move a car – do not drive through flood water."

In Walsall, Delves Police posted: "Brockhurst Crescent by the RAC Centre is flooded, typical of many of the roads in Walsall. Please take care."

In Sandwell, Councillor Les Trumpeter said: "Please keep away from Wigmore Lane until the floods subside. Had an eventful morning closing off the road, wading through thigh height water and helping a stranded vehicle. "

West Midlands Railway announced the line between Walsall and Rugeley was blocked due to flooding. Posting on social media WMR said: "Flooding between Walsall and Rugeley Trent Valley  Due to flooding, the line is blocked. Services will be unable to run between these stations."

Buses have been diverted due to the flooding, including the Number 9, which links Walsall and Wolverhampton. 

West Midlands National Express tweeted: "Due to flooding on Vicarage Road under the railway bridge and Litchfield Road. Service 9 is diverted via Mellish Road, Walsall Road, and the normal line of route in both directions. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

In Dudley the number 2 bus has been diverted due to flooding, the company confirmed: "Due to severe weather. Service 2 is diverted via Stourbridge Road in both directions until further notice. We apologise for any inconvenience caused." 

In Wolverhampton, the council apologised for bin collections being delayed due to the weather. 

The council tweeted: "Due to the recent snow and ice, bin collections have been affected. We are currently working to catch up and ask residents to please leave their bins out and we will collect as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding. Please note, our HWRCs (Tips) are open as usual."
