Walsall Community Litter Watch have organised a total of 25 litter picks across the borough as part of the Great British Spring Clean.

The events will run until Sunday, September 27, and will visit Blackwood Park, New Invention Square in Willenhall, Barr Beacon, Pelsall Village Centre and Oak Park Leisure Centre in Walsall.

On Monday, a group of volunteers visited Primley Park and collected 14 bags of litter – as well as a gearbox, car seat and food waste bin.

Councillor Oliver Butler, Walsall Council’s portfolio holder for clean and green said: “Monday’s litter pick at Primley Park was the fifth of a series of community litter picks taking place across the borough during the Great British September Clean.

“We’ve had a marvellous response from our communities, so thank you very much to everyone who has taken part so far or signed up for the events that are coming up.

"We are holding litter picks in each of the 20 council wards so I would also like to thank those councillors from all parties who have signed up to help out so far.

“We are having to limit numbers of people taking part to maintain social distancing, but there are still some spaces left, so why not join in?”
