Woman taken to hospital following crash in Rowley Regis

A woman was taken to hospital following a serious crash in the Black Country.

The driver of a Ford Focus, a woman in her 40s, had to be cut from from the car.

She was left trapped following the smash in Hawes Lane, Rowley Regis, outside the Bulls Head pub.

The busy road was closed for more than two hours from 9am today.

The woman suffered a suspected fractured collarbone and complained of pain in her neck and hips.

She was taken to Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley.

The driver of the other car was not hurt.

Fire crews from Oldbury and Haden Cross stations used cutting equipment to remove the roof of the car and free the driver.

West Midlands Fire Service spokeswoman Alison Newis said: "Two cars were involved in a collision on the road.

"One casualty was trapped by her injuries in the car. Two other people got themselves out of their cars and received checks from the ambulance service.

"Cutting equipment was used to remove the roof of the car."

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman Claire Brown said: "The driver of the car was taken to hospital with neck pain and a suspected fractured collarbone.

"She was given pain relief, immobilised and taken to Russells Hall."
