Tributes paid to father-of-four who died after being hit by car in Stourport
Tributes have been paid to a Shropshire dad and keen cricketer who died after being hit by a car in Stourport.
Steven Jones, 51, was hit by a Vauxhall Zafira in Stourport at around 4.20pm on December 6.
He was taken to hospital for treatment but died on December 14.
A tribute from his family said: "Steven loved life and was larger than life with an individual sense of humour.
"He was a son, brother, dad, granddad, partner and a great mate to many.
"Steve was a lifelong Liverpool supporter and had a passion for cricket and horse racing. He got his wish recently to part-own a racehorse, which he was very proud of.
"His laugh and sense of humour rubbed off on anyone in his company.
"Steve loved spending time with his family and friends; he will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.
"His family and friends would like to thank everyone for their kind words and messages at this truly difficult time."
Mr Jones was a member of Highley Cricket Club.
Denise Goulden, honorary secretary of Highley Cricket Club, said: "Steve joined Highley Cricket Club as a teenager and was a loyal, committed and valued member of the club. In addition to being a more than an average player he was also a committee member and the club chairman for approximately 18 years.
"Everyone connected with Highley Cricket Club, either past or present, extend their deepest sympathies and condolences to all his family."
Cricket Shropshire's Director of Sponsorship, Marketing and Communications Richard Twigg said: "This is such terribly sad news, he was a good man.
"Condolences to his family and all connected with Highley Cricket Club from everyone at Cricket Shropshire."
A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving in connection with the incident and has been released on police bail until January 23.
West Mercia Police officers would also like to speak to the occupants of a small transit van and the occupants of a small light-coloured car, who may be able to assist with enquiries.
Anyone with information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident reference number 503S of December 6.
