West Bromwich crash: Man dies after being hit by lorry
A man has died after being hit by a lorry in West Bromwich today.
Emergency services were called to Jowetts Lane, in Hateley Heath, at around 8.35am.
The man, believed to be aged in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police remain at the scene, close to Hill Top, and an area around the lorry is cordoned off.
The road is blocked at the junction with Coles Lane and Wyntor Lane close to the Gough Arms pub.
Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the force's Collision Investigation Unit, said: "I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time, and who has not spoken to us, to come forward.
"The family of the man have been informed and specialist officers continue to liaise with them at this sad time. If anyone has any information then please contact me or one of the team."
West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Murray MacGregor said: "On arrival, ambulance staff found a man who had suffered very significant injuries.
"Sadly, it was almost immediately obvious that there was nothing that could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.
"There were no other patients."
The Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford was en-route but was stood down before arrival.
The road will remain closed while traffic officers investigate the circumstances surround the crash and the driver is assisting police with their investigation.
Sandwell Police also put a tweet out to warn motorists about road closures in the area.
Jowetts Lane, Schofield Road and Wyntor Lane are closed currently.
Reporter Clare Butler has been at the scene.
