Willenhall crash: Man cut free from car after smash at Portobello Island

A man had to be cut out of a car last night after smashing into the railings during a crash on the Portobello Island.

West Midlands Police, ambulance service, fire service and two air ambulances were called to the scene of a two car crash in Willenhall around 6.40pm.

The crash happened on The Keyway at the busy roundabout with the aftermath witnessed by stunned motorists who took to social media.

A man, aged in his 20s, was trapped in the blue car and was checked over by a doctor before firefighters removed the roof.

Ten firefighters from Willenhall and Bilston fire station attended to release the man.

He was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in Birmingham, suffering from serious leg injuries.

A second man, the driver, was complaining of abdominal pain. He was taken to New Cross Hospital, in Wolverhampton.

A third patient was also assessed and taken to New Cross Hospital.
