Car smashed into house in Wolverhampton

A 4x4 left the road and ploughed into a house in Wolverhampton.

Debris including bricks were scattered across the driveway of the home in Wednesfield in the aftermath of the crash.

The smash happened at around 7.30pm yesterday in Deyncourt Road.

Crews from Wednesbury and Tettenhall fire stations arrived after being called by police.

Resident Nigel Smith, aged 45 said: "We had just popped back at around 6.30pm when we saw all the police and the car through the house.

"Thankfully, no one was in the house at the time, otherwise it would have been a different outcome."

A winch was used to tow the vehicle out after it embedded in the front of the semi-detached house.

Fire crews checked the safety of the house in the aftermath.

West Midlands Police confirmed they believe the driver of the car that hit the house left the scene after the crash.
