Firefighters tackle Bewdley railway embankment blaze

A fire on a railway embankment left firefighters working on the line whilst Severn Valley Railway ran close by.

The fire, which took place at around 6.30pm on March 19 at Droppings Well Farm, Stourport Road, Bewdley is believed to have started accidentally.

Hereford and Worcester fire service confirmed they received a call at 6.43pm alerting them to the blaze, and upon arrival saw that it was actually on the railway embankment.

The fire crew, dispatched from Kidderminster, informed Severn Valley Railway officials to be aware that they were working on the line to tackle the 20 metre by 20 metre blaze.

They used one hose reel to extinguish the flames and left the scene at 7.10pm. No one was reported hurt.
