The 16-year-old boy was hit outside the Gospel Oak Public House, in Bilston Road, Tipton, at 5.35pm yesterday evening.

John Hawker, a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman, said crews arrived to find the teenager had suffered serious injuries in the incident.

He received emergency trauma care at the scene by ambulance medics.

"Following treatment he was transferred by land ambulance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Major Trauma Unit for further emergency treatment. The hospital had been pre-alerted to his arrival and level of injuries," said Mr Hawker.

"Unfortunately his injuries were classed as serious."

Anyone with information should contact West Midlands Police on 101.
