Lorry ploughs in to bridge on main road
Traffic on a busy road in Lye has been brought to a standstill today after a lorry crashed into a bridge.
People travelling along the A458 Stourbridge Road in Lye are facing long delays after an articulated lorry smashed into a bridge at around 9.50 this morning.
Officers have closed a section of the road while engineers inspect the damage caused to the bridge. The driver of the lorry was assessed at the scene but had no injuries.
A worker at a business near to the scene, who wished to remain anonymous, said that the bridge was constantly being hit by lorries and tall vehicles.
"We didn't see or hear it happen, but just saw the traffic and then we came out and saw the lorry. It's always happening to be honest. The last time it happened was a couple of months ago," they said."I have been here 15 years and it's probably happened ten times."
