Explosives find forces homes to be evacuated
Parts of Kidderminster have been evacuated today after the discovery of suspected explosives.
Residents living on the Comberton Estate were asked to leave their homes by officers from West Mercia Police early this afternoon.
A temporary evacuation centre was set up at St Chads Community Hall for people affected.
Police have now allowed some people to return.
This afternoon, West Mercia Police said in a statement: "Officers are currently at Norton Road in the Comberton area of Kidderminster following the discovery of a device which was reported to us shortly after 1.15pm today.
"At this stage, it is too early to say what the device is but it is not believed to present any risk to the public. Military bomb disposal experts have been called to remove it.
"A cordon was established at the scene and residents evacuated from nearby premises as a precaution but following advice from military experts people have been allowed to return to their homes. The road cordon has been lifted."
