Arrest as cannabis factory goes up in flames in Wolverhampton

A suspected cannabis factory went up in flames today after allegedly being set on fire as police visited the address.

Three crews were sent to the scene of the blaze, in Mancroft Road, Tettenhall.

Smoke was seen billowing down the street following the blaze at around 4pm.

West Midlands Police said they were at the property in connection with another matter when fire broke out.

Spokesman Lee Page said: "A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson. The blaze started shortly after 4pm whilst officers were in the property on routine enquiries. The road is currently closed in both directions.

"A quantity of cannabis has been discovered in the loft of the property and enquiries are ongoing."
