Teenagers rescued in Dudley reservoir drama
Three teenagers were rescued from a water ski ramp after they were left stranded in the middle of a reservoir in Dudley today.
Two boys aged 15 and one aged 16-year-old had been using a dinghy at Lodge Farm Reservoir, in Highbridge Road, Netherton, and were left stranded when it burst.
Firefighters from Brierley Hill and Cradley Heath, along with the water rescue unit from Perry Barr, were called to the reservoir, which is used by Dudley Water Ski Club, at about 5pm.
The teenagers are not believed to have been members of the club.
Fire crews used an inflatable boat at the scene to bring the teenagers back to shore.
Watch commander Roy Whitehead, from Brierley Hill fire station, said: "There were three young lads who had been using a small dinghy. They got onto the water ski ramp in the reservoir but were left stranded because their dinghy burst.
"We utilised the on-site inflatable boat that was crewed by a member of the club and firefighters,
"They were not stuck there for very long and were all okay."
