Clean-up of battery fire well under way at Darlaston yard
A clean-up operation has got under way after a huge fire ripped through the yard of a battery recycling plant.
Tons of batteries went up in flames at G&P Batteries Ltd in Darlaston with explosions being heard from miles away.
Bosses at the firm said they were content it was an accidental blaze, most likely to have been started by a short circuit.
No buildings were affected by the fire at around 1.30am yesterday and the business has been able to operate as normal.

Managing director Michael Green said: "It certainly was accidental but as to a specific cause we haven't tied it down.
"It will most likely be a short circuit of some kind. We are well into the tidying up now."
Up to 50 firefighters were called in to tackle the blaze in the Crescent Works Industrial Estate, Willenhall Road.
Witnesses said explosions could be heard as the fire took hold from as far afield as five miles away.
One said it sounded like a 'war zone'.
Roads in the area were closed while the fire was brought under control.
