Pedestrian hit by car in Netherton

[gallery] A man has been injured after being hit by a car this morning.

The man, believed to be in his 60s, was involved in the collision with the vehicle in Peartree Lane in Netherton, Dudley, at 7.15am.

Ambulance crews and police are at the scene, which is near the Grazebrook Industrial Estate.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "Crews arrived to find a man in his sixties had sustained arm injuries and a laceration to his head after being in collision with a car.

"The patient was given pain relief at the scene and immobilised with the use of a head collar and spinal board before being taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for further assessment and treatment."

The road is currently blocked.

Meanwhile, a woman was taken to hospital after the car she was in hit a lamppost.

Emergency services were called to Newbury Lane in Oldbury at around 7.30am.

One of the ca'rs occupants was treated at the scene, while a women complaining of a back injury was taken to Sandwell Hospital for further assessment.

Police temporarily closed the road to allow both services to work and clear up the scene.
