Girl, aged 13, hit by car in Oldbury

A schoolgirl was taken to hospital with a serious leg injury after being hit by a car today.

Officers were called to Pound Road in Oldbury shortly after 7.30am following the incident involving the 13-year-old.

The youngster was treated at the scene by paramedics but taken to Sandwell Hospital for further treatment.

John Hawker spokesman for West Midland's Ambulance Service said: "We were called at around 7.39am this morning to reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian in Pound Road."

One lane of traffic was closed by officers while the scene was cleared and investigations took place.
