He was airlifted to hospital after the smash at the A456 in Rock, Clows Top near Kidderminster shortly after 1.30pm yesterday.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman Suzie Fothergill said: "The man, who was not wearing a helmet, had suffered a serious head injury.

Due to the nature of his injury, the man was given an anaesthetic at the scene."

The air ambulance from Cosford then airlifted him to the major trauma centre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further assessment and specialist treatment.

Inspector Emma Wright from West Mercia Police has also appealed for witnesses to the crash, which just involved the one quad bike and happened close to the Colliers Arms pub.

Anyone with information should call the 101 number.
