Man airlifted after skip yard accident

A man was airlifted to hospital with serious leg injuries after getting trapped under a lorry at a skip hire yard.

Emergency services were called to Anglesey Sand Pits, in Ogley Hay Road, between Burntwood and Brownhills.

The man, in his 40s, suffered suspected fractures to his legs and was flown to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham just before 10am yesterday.

Staffordshire Police were also called to the scene and the matter has been referred to the Health & Safety Executive.

Ambulance Service spokesman Murray MacGregor said: "The man suffered leg injuries and was given pain relief at the scene."
