Worker has heart attack on Wolverhampton cafe roof
A workman is fighting for his life after suffering a heart attack on a cafe rooftop. Paramedics were called to the cafe, in Wednesfield High Street, on Saturday at 4pm.
The man was carrying out work on the roof when he collapsed. Fire crews were called to the scene to help carry him off the roof before he was taken to hospital.
West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman Claire Brown said: "Crews carried out resuscitation efforts on the man, on the roof, shocking the man's heart three times with a defibrillator.
"Due to the location, the fire service were called and helped to carry the man off the roof whilst ambulance crews continued CPR.
"The man was then taken by land ambulance on blue lights to New Cross Hospital; advanced life support continued en route. Medics were pre-alerted to the arrival of the man, who was said to be in a critical condition."
