Bricks were sent flying when the black Renault Clio crashed through the wall outside a property on the A460 Cannock Road near to its junction with Belton Avenue in Wolverhampton.

Two cars were parked on the driveway of the home at the time; one of which was damaged.

The crash ripped off the front bumper of the clio and the driver, believed to be a woman in her 40s, walked away from yesterday afternoon's smash with only cuts and bruises and didn't require any hospital treatment.

The house's owner, who didn't wished to be named, said no one was in the property at the time. He added: "I was on my way back home coming from the direction of the M54 and I saw a police car at the end of my drive and this car and I thought 'what's happened here?' then I saw that a car had gone through my wall. I was shocked, I think anyone would be, I just don't know what happened I just came back to a smashed wall. I think there's been a bit of damage to one of the cars."

It is not known what direction the car was driving from at the time of the smash. It was removed from the scene by a recovery truck. West Midlands Police spokesman Pete Edney said:

"Minor injuries to the driver's neck were reported but she didn't require any hospital treatment."
