Three hurt after two-car smash on Keyway

Three people were taken to hospital after a two-car smash in the Black Country.

A man, believed to be in his 40s, was freed from his Volkswagen Bora and taken to New Cross Hospital suffering from neck injuries in the crash on The Keyway, Willenhall.

The driver and a passenger in the second vehicle, a BMW 3 series, was also taken to New Cross Hospital as a precaution.

The accident happened at 10.40am yesterday near to the Black Country Route island. The southbound carriageway was closed for more than an hour and eventually reopened inthe after noon.

Crew commander Andy Howard of Bilston fire station said: "With the weather conditions expected to get worse this week, we are advising drivers to take extra care while travelling on the roads as there will be extra surface water which create hazardous driving conditions."

It is the second smash to close the same stretch of road within days.

On Thursday it was shut for more than an hour after a pink Hummer limousine and a lorry collided at 10am.
