Long delays after lorry and pink limousine crash on Keyway
A lorry and a pink stretch limousine crashed on a busy route near Wolverhampton today - causing long queues for drivers.
The smash on the Keyway blocked off the carriageway towards the Black Country Route for more than an hour.
Police were called at about 10.10am and closed that side of the dual carriageway while the scene was cleared.
The crash created tailbacks along the Black Country Route through Bilston and along the Willenhall Road.
The Hummer limousine ended up at a right angle to the Mercedes lorry, which was carrying stacks of wooden pallets.
Police said that the road had now reopened.
The lorry was part on the central reservation, while the limousine's bonnet was on a grass verge at the roadside.
Police said there were no passengers in the limousine at the time and the male drivers of both vehicles suffered minor injuries.
Firefighters from Bilston attended to make the vehicles safe and ensure there was no risk of a fire.
Crew commander Jason Loftus said: "No-one had to be cut free from the vehicles but I don't think either one would roadworthy after this.
"We just made sure everything was safe and disconnected the batteries."
He said it was the first time the crew had been to a crash involving a limo and added: "It was a bit different."
West Midlands Police spokeswoman Sarah Astbury said: "There was a collision between a lorry and a limousine that blocked the carriageway between the Portobello Island and The Black Country Route.
"No traffic was being allowed past while the incident was dealt with."
Two lanes were also closed on the M6 northbound between Junction 10 for Wolverhampton and 10a for the M54 for about half an hour after a crash between two cars at about 11.30am today.
Congestion stretched back to Junction 9 in Wednesbury. There were not believed to be any serious injuries.
