This was the scene after the smash in Lichfield Road, close to its junction with High Street. Police were called to the scene to redirect traffic on the busy route, which travels out of the town centre and up to Neachells Lane.

The crash happened at around 10.20am and the road remained closed until just before midday.

Nobody was injured in the collision but recovery teams were sent to the scene, along with highways officers from Wolverhampton City Council. Firefighters from Wolverhampton Fire Station also attended.

Deb Edmonds, from West Midlands Police, said: "Police were called to the scene at around 10.20am today.

"There were three cars which had collided on the bridge there. Nobody has been injured but the road is closed as highways have been called to clear it up.

"Police are there to redirect the buses which use the route."

The closure caused traffic to build up on routes around the town centre.
