Fire crews were called to the Kingsfisher Hotel, Kidderminster Road, Wall Heath, at around 9.45am.

Only two guests were staying at the hotel at the time. They gathered outside the building along with members of staff as a precaution while the blaze was extinguished.

Fire crews said burning debris from the fan had fallen on to a plastic toilet seat causing the flames to spread further.

Two firefighters put out the fire and a fan was used to blow smoke out through a window – preventing further damage to the rest of the building. No-one was hurt.
