Seven injured in smashes across the Midlands
Seven people were taken to hospital after a series of crashes on roads across the Midlands.
In one smash between a car and a van in Bognop Road, Essington, four people were injured.
A man in his 40s suffered serious head and chest injuries while a woman, also in her 40s, was left with serious leg injuries after the crash at 8pm.
Two other people were assessed and treated at the scene for head and neck injuries before being taken to New Cross Hospital.
Meanwhile a man and a woman in their 80s were seriously injured when their car collided with a 4x4 vehicle in Habberley Lane, Franche, Kidderminster, yesterday afternoon.
The woman had serious chest, neck and arm injuries while the male driver was treated for back, neck and internal injuries.
In Wordsley a motorcyclist suffered a suspected fractured ankle in a crash with a Mini in Coldstream Drive at about 5.40pm yesterday, causing long tailbacks along the A491 during rush hour.
And a two-car smash on the major Oldbury Ringway led to long tailbacks while the scene was cleared during rush hour yesterday.
Police were called to the scene outside Oldbury Police Station at 3.15pm, after a crash which left one car on the central reservation.
There were only minor injuries for the people involved and all were discharged at the scene, but that section of the A road was closed while the car was removed, using a winch, at around 5pm.
