Salon staff shock after car crashes into Hagley bus shelter

A car left the road and ploughed through a bus shelter to strike the front of a hair salon in Hagley causing thousands of pounds of damage.

Salon staff today said they were shocked to find the damaged shop front when they arrived for work.

Bosses at the Umberto Giannini salon, in Worcester Road, said they were able to reopen on Saturday.

Manager Kerri Clarke today said they expected to have to fork out for a new shop front.

The bus shelter was demolished in the collision with a Ford Ka which happened just before 4am on Saturday.

An internal wall at the Umberto Giannini salon was cracked.

West Mercia Police today said a woman and a man were arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
