Ambulance and fire crews went to the eighth-floor flat at Alfred Gunn House in Thompson Road, Langley Green, Oldbury just after 9pm yesterday after the group reported they were feeling 'unwell'.

A fire spokesman said: "The cause of the illness was due to carbon monoxide being generated by the use of a disposable barbecue inside the property.

"We would encourage people to have barbecues outside."
