The blaze at Weldrite Fabrications, Perry Street Industrial Estate, Bradley, is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault. It started at around 10pm yesterday.

West Midlands Fire Control Centre said they had five separate calls to attend the premises.

Firefighters battled to stop the fire, which had engulfed machinery used to spray metal, from spreading to the main factory building.

Bilston watch commander Andy Rainey said there were no signs of forced entry to the metal gates surrounding the machinery. He said the flames went through the roof and had covered the whole unit holding the spray booth.

He said no workers were inside the unit, as it was believed the factory had closed at around 6pm.

CCTV footage is now being examined from the premises to confirm if an electrical fault was the cause of the blaze, as suspected. Crews from Bilston and Tipton tackled the fire.
