Sedgley woodland search for missing woman, 26
[gallery] A major police search of woodland was under way in Sedgley this afternoon for a woman who vanished from home 50 miles away.
Frankie Warren's car was found abandoned near to Sedgley Hall Park around 36 hours after she failed to show up to work.
Worried relatives of the missing 26-year-old, described as 'gentle and sensible', travelled to the scene today from their home in Thornbury, South Gloucestershire, to help the police search.
Dozens of West Midlands Police officers with sniffer dogs searched park and woodland in Sedgley throughout the night following the discovery of Frankie's silver Honda Civic at 6.50pm yesterday. Police were continuing to search through bushes and woodland today.
Police have taken away the vehicle, which neighbours said had been abandoned at the entrance to the park in Elan Road for a number of hours before officers were called.
This afternoon, a specialist search and rescue team from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service arrived to help.
Frankie's relatives today said her disappearance was completely out of character.
Maxine Cotton, the mother of Frankie's 27-year-old boyfriend Sam, said: "She's a gentle girl, she's very very sensible.
"This is so out of character for her to do. It's not like her to have her phone switched off which is what has happened in the last couple of days."
Desperate Sam, who was today joining the search, posted an emotional plea for information on his Facebook page declaring: "I love you so much baby!!! We all just want you home safe."
A Facebook group has been set up called Frankie Warren Still Missing.
Police tracked Frankie's silver Honda Civic using number plate recognition cameras and around 10 police vehicles, including riot vans, swamped Elan Road, off Sedgley town centre, following the discovery of the car. The police helicopter has also been involved in the search.
Frankie is described as white, 5ft 8ins tall and with a slim build. She has a pieced left nostril, blue eyes and straight blonde hair and was last seen wearing a blue tracksuit with jogging bottoms. She had a light-grey hooded tracksuit top and a quilted jacket with fur-trimmed hood.
