Cyclist dies after being hit by car in Stourport

A cyclist has died after he was knocked down by a car in Stourport.

The mountain bike rider was seriously injured in the crash, which happened in Vernon Road on Saturday night.

He was taken to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital with serious head injuries. Police said the man, who is from the Wyre Forest area, died yesterday.

The driver of the vehicle, a silver Renault Megane Scenic, was unhurt.

West Mercia Police sealed off the street for more than hour.

Pc Simon Johnson, of West Mercia Police, said: "An investigation has now been launched into what happened. We would ask anyone with information to get in touch as soon as possible."
