Man and boy rescued after house fire

A man and a boy have been rescued from their home by firefighters after a blaze broke out.

The fire started in the living room of the third-floor flat in Elm Tree Way, Cradley Heath, at about 3.50pm today.

Crews from Brierley Hill and Cradley were sent to the blaze and led the man, in his 40s, and the child from the building.

They were uninjured but suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation.

West Midlands Fire Service said the blaze was contained within the flat's living room.
