The smash happened in Church Road, Burntwood, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The damaged Alfa Romeo vehicle was left at the scene with its bumper and rear wheel hanging off.

Tyre marks were left on the road and the wall suffered extensive in the accident.

Police were called to the scene and the vehicle was taken away later in the day.

David Black from Burntwood saw the aftermath of the smash as he travelled to church on Sunday morning.

The 70 year-old said it had proved a talking point as they arrived at Christ Church further up the road.

Grandfather-of-five Mr Black said: "We were going up to church at about 7.45am and there it was and nobody was around them.

"How it ended up there I don't now, the skid marks suggest it was going on one way and the damage on the car suggest it was going the other way.

"The wall was completely wrecked and the car was also.

"The back wheel was snapped off and there was quite a bit of damage to the front.

"In that road there are a series of humps."

Elsewhere, a girl believed to be aged between seven and 10 was airlifted to hospital from Rugeley.

Paramedics were called to Plovers Rise at around 4.10pm yesterday. She was hurt on Bishops playing field and was transferred to Birmingham Children's Hospital.

Colin Boyle, who lives nearby, said: "It seemed a child was injured late on Sunday afternoon, while playing at Bishops Playing field in Rugeley.

"The ambulance and paramedics were on scene very quickly. Lots of people watched as the paramedics and ambulance staff stabilised the patient, before deciding to evacuate with the air ambulance."
