Attack victim fighting for life after being found outside Wednesfield police station

A man in his 50s was fighting for life after being attacked in Wolverhampton.

Police officers came across the victim, who was not breathing, outside the front of Wednesfield police station on Alfred Squire Road at around 11.10pm yesterday

They resuscitated him at the scene before he was taken to hospital with serious head and facial injuries.

He remained in a critical condition this morning. An area on Alfred Squire Road and Woodhouse Fold has been cordoned off while forensic investigators examine the scene.

No arrests have been made to date.

Sgt Barbara Dale, from Force CID, said: "We're in the very early stages of this investigation and are still piecing together exactly what happened late last night.

"I would urge anyone who witnessed the assault or who saw anything which may assist our inquiry to contact us as soon as possible."
