Ambulance in crash with car in Kingswinford

An ambulance has been involved in a crash with a car at a busy junction outside a Kingswinford pub today.

Paramedics were taking a women to hospital when the smash happened in Moss Grove at around 11am opposite The Cross Pub.

Traffic queues built up at the nearby junction known locally as the Arizona Crossing.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman Claire Brown said the women being taken to hospital was uninjured in the accident.

She was transferred to a second ambulance which continued the journey to Dudley's Russells Hall Hospital.

The damaged ambulance is taken away from the scene

"The driver of the car, a woman in her 60s, sustained chest pain in the collision," she added

"She was treated on scene by crews before being taken to the same hospital as a precaution.

"One crew member from the ambulance, a man, suffered shoulder pain and attended A&E as a precaution.

"The Trust takes any incident involving an emergency vehicle very seriously and will work closely with the police to establish exactly what happened."
