The fire led to nearby roads being closed as a precaution.

Fire crews were called to Kwik-Fit, in Long Lane, at 11.15am today. The blaze affected a tyre compressor at the premises and also spread to the roof at the rear of the buildings.

Roads around the building were closed off by police as a precaution, including a section of Malt Mill Lane and the Blackheath end of Long Lane.

West Midlands Fire Service said the fire had been put out in around 30 minutes but crews remained to ensure it had not spread to other parts of the building.

They also isolated the electricity at the site.
