Smoke was seen billowing from the lounge windows as flames began to burst through as fire crews arrived.

Crews from Dudley and Bilston were called to the fire at the terrace house in Cross Place, off Cross Lane, at around 9.30am on Sunday.

Firefighters wore breathing apparatus as they entered the burning home, but established that no one was trapped inside.

The fire was isolated to the front lounge but crews said it had quickly taken hold, completely destroying the room.

The force of the fire damaged downstairs windows and left the rest of the home full of smoke.

Debris has been left scattered across the front drive including wooden logs.

Watch commander Paul Clark, of Dudley Fire Station, said: "It has been confirmed as an accidental fire and we believe it may have been down to a fault with an appliance."
