A fire believed to have been started by arsonists gutted part of a derelict factory in Cradley Heath today.

A ground-floor room in the two-storey building was ripped apart by flames, destroying old files and catalogues stored inside.

Firefighters were called to the factory unit in Cox's Lane just after midnight and battled the fire for around two hours.

The boarded-up building has been empty for a number of years.

Firefighter Ade Passmore said: "We don't know how it started but it has got to be deliberate. Everything in there was gutted."
