Two thrown from car in Tipton crash

Two people were thrown from a car after a crash in Tipton.

Ambulance crews were called to the crash which happened on the roundabout at the junction of Shrubbery Avenue, Bell Street and Dudley Road just after 7.10pm last night.

When they arrived they found two cars had crashed. The cars involved were a silver Saab and a silver Peugeot vehicle. The impact of the crash inflated the airbag inside the Peugeot car.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman Suzie Fothergill said: "The driver and front seat passenger from one of the vehicles were reported to have been ejected from the car.

"The driver, a 20-year-old man, was found lying on the floor in the middle of the roundabout. The man was treated for a head injury and fully immobilised before being taken to Russells Hall Hospital for further assessment and treatment.

"The front seat passenger, a 19-year-old woman was treated for minor injuries and taken to the same hospital for further assessment."

Deb Edmonds, spokeswoman for West Midlands Police, said: "We were called by the ambulance service at 7.15pm. the driver and passenger from the Peugeot were taken to hospital, injuries were not serious and the driver of the other vehicle was unhurt. Vehicles were recovered from the scene."
