The driver had a suspected heart attack as the Kia Sorento went over the canal bridge outside St. Patrick's Catholic Primary School in Graiseley Lane, Wednesfield around 1.40pm this afternoon.

The vehicle clipped the wall of the bridge and then careered across the road before ploughing through the school's 6ft high fencing, hitting an office where a member of staff was working.

The driver was taken to hospital for treatment at nearby New Cross Hospital and was later said to be in a serious condition.

Nobody from the school was injured.
