The investigation centres around The Lounge in Market Place, Great Bridge.

Police arrived at the scene just before 11pm yesterday and found two men with injuries.

A 30-year-old man had suffered serious head injuries and died at the scene, despite the efforts of officers and paramedics to save him. A post mortem is now due to be carried out to determine the cause of his death. The second injured man, aged 52, was treated at hospital for minor injuries and has since been discharged.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is today helping police with their inquiries.

Police have confirmed the victim died inside the venue but is not known how many others were also inside at the time.

An area outside the venue was today sealed off as forensic experts comb over the scene for clues. West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Suzie Fothergill said crews were called to Market Place in Great Bridge, Tipton at 10.55pm.

She said: "On arrival, crews immediately commenced resuscitationon a man found at the scene. Unfortunately despite best efforts nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.

A second man was also treated at the scene before being conveyed to hospital."

Shards of glass could be seen outside the front door of the pub this morning but it is not believed to be linked to the man's death at this stage.

Officers' inquiries will include investigating if there is any clear footage of the suspected murder.

CCTV cameras are fitted at the venue, including one covering the car park, but what exactly was recorded is not yet known.

Licensee of The Lounge Inderjit Kheela could not be contacted for comment.

The murder is at least the third to have taken place in the town in the last six months.

Student Da In Lee was found dead in a flat on Grace Road, Tipton, on April 9, meanwhile Terrence Powell was found dead in Jubilee Park on September 5.

It is believed the 58-year-old from Wednesbury was knocked down deliberately by a car just before 8am. A 50-year-old man from Tipton is charged with murder.
