A 12-year-old boy was rescued by firefighters after getting stuck knee-deep in mud in the Black Country.

The alarm was raised by a nearby resident who spotted the boy in the thick mud.

Firefighters went to the River Stour, off Richardson Drive, Amblecote, Stourbridge, at around 6.30pm yesterday.

They threw the boy a safety line before using specialist gear to climb nearly 7ft and pull him free.
