A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving following the incident at the busy traffic island.
Drivers passing by yesterday were greeted by the sight of the car sitting in the shadow of the towering 46ft tall miner statue, which is known affectionately as Jigger.
Police and fire crews were called to the junction of High Street and Chester Road after the silver Renault Clio left the carriageway.
Deb Edmonds, spokeswoman for West Midlands Police, said: "We were called to the Tinman island at 3am. A car ended up on the island and was abandoned.
"A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving."
The front of the car was left in tatters while a black and white road sign which directs traffic was also damaged. Firefighters from Aldridge and Bloxwich were called to the scene at around 3am yesterday.
