Man rescued in Shenstone flats fire

A man was rescued by firefighters after a blaze in a block of flats in Shenstone, near Lichfield.

A suspected electrical fault caused the fire at the property in Barnes Road.

A woman and young child fled before crews arrived at 4.15pm yesterday.

Smoke spread into the stairwell and a man in his 40s suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital.
